Swift Run House Concerts 2008 For the fourth year we are presenting a series of   summer concerts on our 3-tier amphitheater deck in Fairfax Station. Weather permitting, the concerts take place outside with a woodland backdrop otherwise we move them indoors. Please bring a lawn chair and picnic with your beverage of choice. The schedule is: June 21 7:30 pm Sold Out! We are not accepting any more reservations. Andy Irvine - yes, the Andy Irvine! Star of Planxty, Patrick Street and Mozaik in a rare house concert. Suggested donation $25 (100% to artist). Seating is limited. Reservations required. June 28 7:30 pm Lily Neill- This amazing young Celtic harper, currently studying at the Sibelius Institute in Finland, returns to charm us again this year. We don't know yet who will be accompanying her, but it is always a magical show. July 12 7:30 pm The Inn Mates - Taking their name from the Irish Inn (not our local reformatory!), the very best in traditional ceili music from Tina Eck (flute), Mitch Fanning (fiddle), Betsy O'Malley(banjo, vocals) and Jesse Winch (bodhran, guitar, harmonica). July 19 7:30 pm IONA - Yes, that's us! Catch the new band line-up. August 2 7:00 pm Isla - Nashville based duo performng Celtic music with an Appalachian  thread.

About house concerts: An idea born in the 1980s, as a way for touring artists to perform where the facilities or demographics would not support a full scale concert, house concerts hark back to a time when folk music was only performed in the kitchens and parlors of "folk". The host provides concert space in their home. No admission is charged, but  a donation is requested, which goes directly to the performer(s). It is not a public event which is why the address is not listed. and anyone wishing to attend must call first for an invitiation.. We provide sodas and snacks, attendees are welcome to bring picnics and coolers.
